UCD Musical Society Presents: 9 to 5

UCD Musical Society presents this year’s Semester 1 show… 9 to 5!

9 to 5 is a 2008 Broadway musical, based on the hit 20th Century Fox picture of the same name. With book by Patricia Resnick and original songs and lyrics by the inimitable Dolly Parton, this show is a fun-filled rodeo ride, guaranteed to leave a smile on your face, and a tap in your toe!

Centring on the imposing offices of Consolidated Industries, a mundane San Francisco-based company in the late 1970s, “9 to 5” chronicles the lives of three women, as they struggle to make a change in their lives, their offices, and the world as a whole. Their story parallels the real-life campaigns of the 9 to 5 movement, who fought for women’s rights in office blocks across the United States, throughout the late 20th century. Channelling history, belief, and a whole lot of laughter, their story is as relevant today as it ever was.
